Saturday in Elgin

The Saturday after the wedding was pretty laid back.  My cousin Matt came over with his two daughters Mia and Hannah, so Aiden was outnumbered.  My Aunt Trish has a nook by the front door (everyone uses the side door) where she keeps a toy box for when her grandkids come to visit.  The little kids pulled out almost every single toy.

The kids all LOVE Alex.  They were constantly hanging around him.  SO CUTE.

We spent a lot of time in their giant front yard.  There was lots of room for the kids to run around and throw around a kickball and football.  Matt even got out there and showed off his cartwheel abilities.  After five minutes of stretching, of course.

Aiden, Mia and Hannah enjoyed walking the "balance beam"...

Rolling around the yard with cousin Chris.  He put down his martini for this part.

Best line of the day: "I don't like this horsie."  Said by Mia after trying out the Aiden horse.

For dinner we had homemade pizzas on fresh flour tortillas.  They were amazing.  I definitely need to make these at home!

Aiden adored my cousin Mike's daughters Zoe and Lily.  He followed them everywhere.  They were so sweet with him and let him play along.  They even took turns with him playing games on the iPad.

It was a struggle to tear him away from all these kids at every nap and every bedtime.  It was really stressful for me because I was the only to put him down every time.  I never got a break from his crying and that ate at me a little.  I felt like I couldn't catch up on my sleep.  But it was worth it!

It looks like you guys had a fun time. I can't get over how green their grass is.

I totally know what you mean about being the only one to take care of your child. There have been too many times that I go out of town by myself with the kids, and even though we are going to visit family, no one seriously helps. At least not for long. Usually, by the time I get home, I just want to sleep for several days, and I want JR to take care of the kids without talking to me in any way! LOL

Enjoyed the pictures and recap. I missed so much being busy in the kitchen. Missed out on much of the interaction between the kids. It's interesting who latched onto whom. It was fun watching them all playing together.

So glad you had fun!!! Did you see the leaves changing? We did and it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I miss it. It has been 7 years since I've really seen it. I won't be missing what they are getting soon though! The weather is so perfect for such a short time!

I hope you are feeling better. This beautiful weather we are getting should help!

I'm sorry you missed out on some stuff Aunt Trish, but the food was amazing! Loved it all.

Alexa, YES we saw the beginning of the leaves changing. So fun! I do miss that too. I laugh every year because the big tree in our front yard drops all of it's leaves over the course of 3 days. It's crazy.

Sara, not only is the grass green (they get rain), but it was sooooo soft and didn't contain fire ants! I didn't have to worry about Aiden finding an ant hill while he was running around. Such a relief.
